Things to concider-

  • Season
  • Customer- age (mintel age bracket), gender, shop/ location of sale, what do they like, what do they dislike
  • Try to keep 5 year age bracket/ audience
  • What shops the card is going to be in Tesco, Waitrose, Poundland, The Royal Family
  • What the occasion is
  • Whats actually going into the bag
  • Examples- in house brand. Design Group catalog- Tom Smith
  • I need to buy a card for THIS person for THIS reason
  • Watch people coming in and out of shops
  • Environmentally friendly products- recycled paper, embedding natural materials into the substrates
  • Can do the same trends with different customers e.g. unicorns
  • Scribbler, paperchase
  • Coated paper
  • Using e.g. foil use it even on the bottom to reinforce the higher quality
  • If designing for children you need to design for the parent that will buy it and the child that will be receiving it
