Environmental Impact

As mentioned earlier within my blog posts i wanted to include seeds within my products so they would give back to the source they are made from. I also mentioned about having a tree planted for each product bought; however, upon further research into this it may be a very costly process. I will bring this idea up when i next see Mat; however, for now i will just focus on the seeds included within my products.

Upon initial research there are lots of interesting products on the market that would make tree planting enjoyable for young boys. The first company i encountered was Kabloom who use a bomb shaped holder which is filled with seeds. I feel this would attract to my target market because of the shape of the packaging, and to plant the seeds it requires you throwing the bomb which would be a lot more interesting than digging a hole and planting them for a young boy. Although i am interested in this idea on their website i can only find this product that plants flowers and herbs. I have emailed the company to find out if they offer a range which plants trees so will wait to hear back from them.

The second product i have encountered is called Grow Me Money Tree seeds. I think the name of this product will attract my target market as it suggests they will be able to gain a financial benefit from this product. Although with this product you can definitely plant trees the process is a lot less interesting than throwing a bomb across the garden as you have to physically plant the seeds in the pot provided. Despite this, this product retails for £1 less than the seed bomb at £2.75.

Another product i have encountered is Grow Your Own Chocolate Scented Flowers. This product because of the smell i think would really appeal to my target market; however, growing flowers not so much. This product retails for the same price as the seed bomb.

Between these 3 products i feel i am on the right track for finding a way to grow trees that would really appeal to my target market. If only i could find tree seeds, in a bomb with the promise of smelling like chocolate…
